(Maritime law / in rem / Federal Courts practice)
A cargo of coal on a ship was arrested as an interim security measure, pending the outcome of an arbitration proceeding in London, England.  On a motion to strike the in rem (meaning "against or about a thing") statement of claim, the Court rejected a "physical nexus" interpretation of a term in the Federal Courts Act.  The Court endorsed a broader "identifiability" interpretation, thereby allowing the motion to proceed.  The decision is only 5 paragraphs long.
