Robbie Fleming graduated in law from UVic in 1990 in the top 5% of his class. He articled at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin and was called to the bar in 1991. He began his career as a prosecutor in northern BC and opened his own practice in 1994, styled 'Robert Samuel Fleming, Barrister'.
Robbie's business started as a cottage legal aid practice and developed over ten years into a wide ranging litigation practice with major corporate clients as well as individuals.
By 2004 Robbie's practice was very wide ranging and covered the waterfront of litigation issues, wrongful dismissal, criminal defence, commercial contract disputes, personal injury claims, labour law, administrative law and professional discipline, wrongful death, product liability and insurance defence, business torts, aboriginal law, and copyright disputes.
In 2004 Robbie left the practice of law moved to the UK to do an MBA at Cambridge. From 2005 to 2008 Robbie was in Europe and engaged in a wide range of entrepreneurial and consulting projects in mostly non-legal roles, including biotech, venture capital, internet, and outsourcing legal services to India.
Throughout his career Robbie has also taken an interest in contributing to his community and doing good in the world. He has volunteered on the palliative care ward at Vancouver General Hospital, done many pro bono cases, and been an active advocate for environmental causes.
Robbie has an MBA from Cambridge and edits the Journal of Business and Legal Affairs.
